ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistan Supreme Court on Friday disqualified former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for lifetime from holding any public office.

A five-member bench delivered the verdict on the question of the period of the disqualification of a member of the parliament. The court had disqualified Sharif as prime minister over corruption charges last year but it had not mentioned the disqualification period in the verdict that was delivered on July 28, 2017. PHNOM PENH -- Hundreds of thousands of Cambodian migrant workers left the capital Phnom Penh on Friday for their home provinces to celebrate the traditional lunar New Year, which falls on April 14, 15 and 16 in 2018.

This year, the government has arranged, for the first time, 60 buses to transport travelers to their hometowns free-of-charge from April 12 to 18. (Cambodia-New Year)

YANGON -- Myanmar's traditional Thingyan water festival kicked off across the country on a grand scale on Friday.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein unveiled the region's water throwing pavilion erected in front of the region's City Hall, calling on people to maintain peaceful festive atmosphere and to participate in efforts in establishing a better system in the new year based on the old year's undertakings. NEW DELHI -- A lawmaker from India's ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl was Friday taken into custody by premier investigating agency (CBI), officials said.

KABUL -- On the banks of the muddy and polluted Kabul River, a private company in joint cooperation with the Kabul Municipality took the initiative to build the first-ever amusement park here in the heart of the Afghan capital city a couple of years ago.
