1st LD: German police shoot knife-armed bakery attacker dead

BERLIN, April 13 (Xinhua) -- A knife-wielding man who attacked and injured several workers at a local bakery in central Fulda city was shot dead by police, local media reported Friday.

Fulda police said they responded to a call at 4:30 a.m. (0300 GMT) that a man was attacking people at the bakery on Fleming Street.

When they rushed to the scene, the suspect attacked them with stones and a truncheon-like object, according to Focus Online.

After a policeman was injured, the officers fatally shot the attacker.

The motive behind the attack was still unclear. The incident is being investigated. Enditem
