Former Egyptian top auditor referred to military trial over anti-army statements

CAIRO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's military authorities referred on Thursday the former anti-graft chief Hisham Genena to a military court over anti-army statements, official MENA news agency reported.

The first session of Genena's trial is due to start next week, said MENA.

Genena was a leading member in the presidential campaign of Sami Anan, former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, before Anan was excluded from the race over charges of running for a political post without obtaining the necessary permissions, incitement against the army and forgery of election documents.

In February, the former top auditor said Anan owned documents and evidences on the country's largest events since Jan. 25 Revolution in 2011, adding that those documents are kept outside Egypt, and it will, if unveiled, change the course of many things and will convict many persons. Enditem
