PARIS -- French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday he would decide whether to hit Syrian regime chemical arms capabilities when he judged it "the most useful" and once all the information on the suspected toxic gas was verified.
He would give the green light to launch a military offensive alongside the United States "once we have verified all the information" to remove "the regime's chemical attacks capabilities," he told TF1 television. (France-Syria-Attack)

MOSCOW -- Russia's only aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, will return to the navy in 2021 after its upgrading is completed in 2020, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said Thursday.
The vessel will be completely refurbished at the 35th Ship Repairing Yard in Murmansk in northwest Russia, Borisov said. (Russia-Aircraft Carrier)

KABUL -- More than three dozen people including security personnel and militants have been confirmed dead as Taliban militants attacked Khawja Omari district in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province on Thursday, deputy to provincial police Ramazan Ali Mohsini said.
"A group of Taliban rebels launched multi-pronged offensives on security checkpoints in Khawja Omari district at 03:00 a.m. local time today, triggering fierce fighting which lasted for hours during which the district governor of Khawja Omari and 11 more staff and security personnel unfortunately lost their lives," Mohsini told Xinhua. ANKARA -- Turkey has seized 80 suspected coup plotters in overseas operations who were involved in the coup attempt in 2016, Turkish government source said on Wednesday.
