Iran's auto parts imports hit 2.89 billion USD

TEHRAN, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran imported 2.89 billion U.S. dollars' worth of auto parts during the last Iranian calendar year (March 2017-18), Financial Tribune daily reported Thursday.

As Iran's largest imports last year, the auto parts took a 5.3-percent share in the total value of Iran's imports, followed by the field corn (3 percent), the report said.

Automobiles excluding ambulances and hybrid cars, soybeans, bananas, mobile phones, LED/LCD displays, frozen beef, barley, soybean meal, unrefined sunflower oil were also among the major imports of the country.

Iran imported 54.3 billion dollars' worth of goods last year, registering a 24.31-percent rise over the previous year.

Major exporters to Iran included China with 13.21 billion dollars, the United Arab Emirates with 10.06 billion dollars, Turkey with 3.19 billion dollars and Germany with 3.83 billion dollars.

Iran's exports during the same period hit 46.93 billion dollars, an increase of 6.5 percent year-on-year. Enditem
