BEIRUT, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Senior military officials of Lebanon and the United States on Thursday held a meeting and discussed bilateral relations and U.S. support to Lebanon, said an army statement.
Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun, U.S. Maj. Gen. Darsie Rogers, head of U.S. Central Command Special Forces, and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard attended the meeting.
The army Guidance Directorate said in the statement that Rogers' current visit to Lebanon is part of an initiative to investigate how U.S. forces can "meet the needs of the Lebanese Army and enhance its military capabilities".
The meeting comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened via Twitter to launch attacks on Syria, following a suspected chemical use in the Syrian district of Douma. Enditem
