Israeli PM warns Iran not to "test Israel's resolve"

JERUSALEM, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran on Wednesday "not to test Israel's resolve," amid escalating tensions in the region.

Speaking at an official ceremony to mark the Holocaust Remembrance Day in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said the attacks in Syria's Douma "show that confronting evil and aggression is a mission that is imposed on every generation."

"I have a message for Iran -- don't test Israel's resolve," he said.

Netanyahu's warning to Tehran came after Iran vowed to act in retaliation for an alleged Israeli airstrike on the T-4 Air Base in Syria, which killed at least 14 people, including seven Iranians.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin talked with Netanyahu over the phone and urged him to avoid actions that might destabilize the situation in Syria, the Kremlin said in a statement.

Tensions were mounting in the region after U.S. President Donald Trump offered the clearest sign yet of his willingness to attack Syria, declaring that missiles "will be coming," as Washington was mulling a response to a suspected chemical weapons attack. Enditem
