KHARTOUM, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and Kenya on Wednesday reiterated their commitment to working together to resolve Africa's security issues, particularly in South Sudan.

The announcement came in a communique during the joint talks chaired by Sudan's First Vice-President Bakri Hassan Saleh and visiting Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto.

The two countries discussed the situation in the region and agreed "to work together to ensure durable solutions," according to the communique.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the talks, Saleh reiterated Sudan's commitment to working with the African Union and its organizations to achieve stability in the region.

"Sudan and Kenya, as member states of the African Union, focus on cooperation to achieve peace and stability in all countries of the region and enhance the trade exchange in a manner that achieves common interests," he said.

Ruto also urged the African countries to boost the peace process in Somalia and South Sudan.

"Kenya and Sudan are working hand in hand to deal with the insecurity and instability imposed on Somalia and South Sudan," he noted.

The Kenyan deputy president concluded his three-day official visit to Sudan on Wednesday, where he held meetings with a number of Sudanese officials and visited a number of development projects. Enditem
