LUSAKA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday:

-- The Zambian government said it was on the right track in improving public finance management to support social economic development.

Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba said the government has made tremendous strides in its quest to create a conducive economic environment and demonstrated considerable commitment to public financial management reforms. (Times of Zambia)

-- About 180,000 households in Zambia will benefit from a livestock program aimed at boosting the operations of the sector.

Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Kampamba Mulenga said the 46.3-million-U.S.-dollars enhanced smallholder livestock investment program, which will be implemented in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), was expected to transform the livestock sector in the country. -- Zambia's revenue agency has warned that it will consistently impose maximum penalties on tax evaders regardless of the status of the perpetrators. (Daily Nation)

-- The World Bank said while there was economic recovery in Zambia, it was still significantly lower than what it takes for the country to accelerate towards prosperity.
