MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A local company Haqiqi Group held a fashion show amid tight security in Mazar-e-Sharif city, capital of northern Afghanistan's Balkh province on Tuesday night.

Aimed at promoting local culture and developing traditional clothes, the models including boys and girls performed cat walk and displayed their outfits designed by local designers in a park on Tuesday night attended by more than 200 people including men and women.

This is the first ever fashion show organized in the relatively peaceful northern Mazar-e-Sharif city.

Fashion show, is rarely held in the conservative and militancy-plagued Afghanistan.

Ajmal Haqiqi, head of the Haqiqi Group, who organized a similar show in Kabul last year, in his opening remarks in Mazar-e-Sharif said that the objectives of holding fashion show is to promote local culture and develop traditional fashion and style among people in Afghanistan. Enditem
