Xinhua,April 11, 2018 Adjust font size:

TOKYO, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as despite early buying on the back of a solid overnight lead from Wall Street, selling to secure recent gains became the dominant theme for investors.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 107.22 points, or 0.49 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 21,687.10.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 6.64 points, or 0.38 percent, to finish at 1,725.30.

Retail, precision instrument and food-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. Enditem
