Tokyo stocks edge down in morning as investors lock in gains

TOKYO, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged lower Wednesday morning as investors opted to secure profits following recent gains.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 43.89 points, or 0.20 percent, from Tuesday to 21,750.43.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.90 points, or 0.17 percent, at 1,729.04.

Service, retail and food-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
