UAE, Georgia discuss bilateral relations, global developments

DUBAI, April 10 (Xinhua) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili discussed on Tuesday the bilateral ties and global developments, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The two leaders discussed relations of "cooperation and friendship" between the UAE and Georgia, and the means of supporting and developing it to achieve their common interests.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed and Margvelashvili also reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation between their countries, especially investment and trade relations, as well as opportunities for further developing bilateral ties.

In 2016, the volume of two-way non-oil trade exchange reached 132 million U.S. dollars, UAE daily Gulf news reported last year.

The two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional developments.

Sheikh Mohamed said the growth and development of UAE-Georgian relations reflect the desire of the leaders of both countries to push forward and strengthen the bonds of their friendship.

The president of Georgia praised the growing relations between the two countries and their friendly people. He also expressed his country's keenness to bolster economic and investment cooperation with the UAE.

In 2017, the UAE and Georgia celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Both two sides also emphasized the importance of doubling international efforts to achieve peace and security both regionally and internationally. Enditem
