Uganda's Bukenya signs for Sweden's FC Linkoping City

Xinhua,April 10, 2018 Adjust font size:

KAMPALA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya has signed a two-year contract with Swedish Division 1 Club, FC Linkoping City.

"We released him to go to join the team in Sweden and he signed a contract," said Mujib Kasule, the proprietor of Uganda Premier League side Proline FC, Bukenya's now former club.

Kasule told Xinhua on Tuesday that they agreed with the player when he returned from playing in India last year that he would be released if another opportunity emerged.

"It is good for him that he has signed and featured in the first League game against Nykoping FC last Saturday," said Kasule.

The defender leaves struggling Proline FC, a club currently fighting relegation in the Uganda Premier League.

FC Linkoping City becomes Bukenya's fourth professional club after featuring for Erbil FC in Iraq, Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa and King Fisher East Bengal in India. Enditem
