Tokyo stocks advance in morning

TOKYO, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained Tuesday morning with investor sentiment turning positive following Chinese leader's remarks about further opening up China's markets.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 234.80 points, or 1.08 percent, from Monday to 21,913.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 14.90 points, or 0.86 percent, at 1,740.78.

Machinery, wholesale and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
