LOS ANGELES, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Two Los Angeles police officers were injured and a man was fatally shot in a police shooting on Monday.

The incident occurred in the Reseda area Monday morning following a pursuit of a stolen SUV. The officers were in a patrol car in the area when they began chasing the suspect.

"Officers were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. There was a foot pursuit at the termination of the pursuit at which point an officer-involved shooting occurred. We can confirm the suspect is deceased at scene," said Los Angeles Police Department on Twitter.

The suspect was described by officers as a man in his 20s.

The two injured police officers were transported to a local hospital and they both have non-life threatening injuries, according to Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect was the seventh person shot by on-duty Los Angeles Police Department officers this year and five of them were killed, Los Angeles Times reported. Enditem
