ABUJA -- Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will run for a second term of office in the next presidential election, party and government officials said on Monday.
The 75-year-old Buhari, at a meeting in Abuja, officially told leaders of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) party of his intention, said Nasir El-Rufai, governor of the northwestern state of Kaduna. (Nigeria-Election)

THE HAGUE -- The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is investigating the alleged use of chemical weapons during the attack in Douma, Syria on April 7, it stated Monday.
According to an official statement, the OPCW has closely monitored the incident and has made a preliminary analysis of the reports of the alleged use of chemical weapons. The fact-finding mission now is in the process of gathering further information from all available sources to establish whether chemical weapons were used. (Syria-Chemical Weapon)

BUDAPEST -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition won the general elections in Hungary on Sunday, with 49.42 percent of the vote, at 81 percent of the votes counted by the National Election office.
Former radical Jobbik party came second with 20 percent of the vote, and MSZP-P (Socialist-Dialogue) third with 12.13 percent. (Hungary-Election)

NEW DELHI -- Around 20 school children were feared dead in India's northern state of Himachal Pradesh on Monday evening, when the school-bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge, a senior state government official confirmed to Xinhua.
The mishap took place in the state's Kangra district in Nurpur city. There were around 40 students in the ill-fated bus, 20 of them got injured. (India-Road Accident)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army said Israeli F-15 warplanes had carried out the attack on the T-4 air base in central Syria before daybreak Monday by firing missiles from the Lebanese airspace, according to the state TV.
The Israeli warplanes fired several rockets from inside the Lebanese airspace and targeted the T-4 air base in the eastern countryside of the Homs province in central Syria. (Syria-Conflict) Enditem
