TAIPEI, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's exports to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong hit an all-time high in March, according to data released by the island's finance authority Monday.

The cross-strait exports for the month stood at 13.4 billion U.S. dollars, up 30.9 percent year on year, a record high of 44.8 percent of the island's exports.

For the first quarter of 2018, Taiwan exported 32.9 billion U.S. dollars worth of goods to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, with electronic components accounting for about a half.

Expanding cross-strait trade left the island a trade surplus of 19.9 billion U.S. dollars.

Taiwan's exports to European countries and Japan also saw double-digit growth in the first quarter. Enditem
