THE HAGUE, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The title race in the Eredivisie will come to a climax next Sunday with league leaders PSV one win against Ajax away from the championship.
Ajax needed several chances on Sunday against Heracles (1-0), with Donny van de Beek and Rasmus Kristensen hitting the post and Matthijsde Ligt missing from close range. On a pass by Hakim Ziyech, David Neres nailed the match winner with a volley in the 63rd minute.
On Saturday PSV miraculously bounced back from a 2-0 deficit at AZ in Alkmaarto win 3-2. Wout Weghorstput the home-team in front with two goals, but within six minutes Gaston Pereiro, HirvingLozano and Marco van Ginkel (penalty) gave PSV the advantage and the win. AZ defender Ron Vlaar was sent off for a foul on forward Weghorst one minute from time.
With four match rounds remaining PSV now are still seven points ahead of Ajax in the Eredivisie. If PSV beat Ajax next Sunday in Eindhoven they will be the new Dutch champions.
On Sunday reigning champions Feyenoord beat FC Twente 3-1 in Enschede, thanks to goals by Jean-Paul Boetius, Steven Berghuis and Nicolai Jorgensen. Adam Maher scored for the home-team. For bottom side Twente the loss meant they are now four points behind number 17 Sparta Rotterdam, which beat VVV-Venlo 3-2 on Saturday. Finishing bottom in the Eredivisie means direct relegation, the numbers 16 and 17 have to play relegation play-offs. Enditem
