Cambodia, Japan sign over 90 mln USD loan, grant agreement

PHNOM PENH, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Japan on Sunday signed a loan and grant agreement worth 90.6 million U.S. dollars with Cambodia.

The agreement was inked in Phnom Penh between Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono under the presence of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Under the deal, Japan would provide the loan of 86 million U.S. dollars for a Phnom Penh electricity transmission project, and the grant of 4.6 million dollars for a social and economic development program.

Before the signing ceremony, Hun Sen and Kono held talks, focusing on bilateral ties and cooperation, according to Hun Sen's assistant Eang Sophalleth. Enditem
