BUDAPEST, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's future is at the stake of the general elections, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said here on Sunday as he casted his vote in a polling station early in the morning.

"We have already explained everything that is at stake: we are not simply electing parties, government and prime minister, but also the future of our country," he said to reporters gathered around him after voting with his wife.

"This is a serious country. This is a big country. This is a country which has always stood up for itself. That is why we can trust in the people and I will accept their decision," he said.

Orban also explained that he voted early in the morning because he wanted to continue his mobilizing campaign in the course of the day and urged every Hungarian to participate in the elections.

Asked about relations between Hungary and the EU, Orban said, "We are a loyal member of the U.N. and all international organizations. The government serves the interest of the country, because we love our country and we are fighting for the future of our country."

He added that he voted for his ruling party the Fidesz, which is the absolute favorite of the elections. Enditem
