CAPE TOWN, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Sunday.

-- The opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) has resolved to "protect clause 25 of the Constitution", otherwise known as the "property clause".

The DA was one of three parties that opposed a motion in Parliament in February to look at section 25 of the Constitution with a view to amending it to include land expropriation without compensation. (News24)

-- A plot is underway to oust President Cyril Ramaphosa by those who support former president Jacob Zuma in KwaZulu-Natal Province.

Zuma supporters were considering working with Andile Mngxitama's Black First Land First (BLF), but the BLF leader has denied this. (Sunday Times)

-- Police Minister Bheki Cele said on Saturday he was seeking an urgent meeting with the ex-combatants of Umkhonto weSizwe, a military wing of the African National Congress, following the firing of shots outside the home of the late struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in Orlando west, Soweto of Johannesburg.
