WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Treasury announced on Friday that it has imposed new sanctions on 38 Russian individuals and entities, including seven business leaders and 17 senior officials, for their alleged "malign activity" around the world.
The designated entities include 12 companies owned or controlled by the Russian business elites, one state-owned Russian weapons trading company and its subsidiary, and a Russian bank, according to a statement released by the Treasury. (U.S.-Russia-Sanctions)

GAZA -- One Palestinian was killed and at least 40 others wounded on Friday afternoon during clashes between hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers at the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.

CAPE TOWN -- The corruption case against former South African President Jacob Zuma has been postponed to June 8, the Durban High Court announced on Friday.
The lawyers for the South African state and those for the defendant agreed to request a postponement of the justice proceedings to June 8, which came a few minutes after Zuma appeared briefly in court to face 16 charges of fraud, corruption and racketeering. (South Africa-Jacob Zuma-Court)
