Disgruntled Italian courier nabbed with 400 kilos of undelivered mail

ROME, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Italian police have nabbed a disgruntled courier who had 400 kilos of undelivered mail in his apartment, ANSA news agency reported Friday.

The 33-year-old resident near the northern city of Turin reportedly told police he quit delivering the mail from 2014-2016 because his employer, a private courier, paid him miserable wages.

"I spent hours and hours driving around for a handful of euros," the man said, according to Turin-based La Stampa newspaper.

Police discovered the ex-courier thanks to a routine traffic check, when they found him in possession of a switchblade and a box of undelivered mail.

This led them to search his flat, where they found stacks of boxes containing bank correspondence, account statements, and phone bills addressed to businesses and individuals, weighing a total of 400 kilos.

The man has been cited for misappropriation of mail and possession of an illegal weapon, La Stampa reported. Enditem
