CAPE TOWN -- The corruption case against former South African President Jacob Zuma has been postponed to June 8, the Durban High Court announced Friday.

The lawyers for the South African state and those for the defendant agreed to request a postponement of the justice proceedings to June 8, which came a few minutes after Zuma appeared briefly in court to face 16 charges of fraud, corruption and racketeering. (S Africa-Zuma-Court Trial)

SEOUL -- A South Korean court on Friday sentenced the impeached President Park Geun-hye to 24 years in jail and fined her 18 billion won (17 million U.S. dollars) over a series of corruption counts.

Park, who was removed out of office in March last year over an influence-peddling scandal involving her longtime friend Choi Soon-sil, was convicted of 16 corruption counts that include bribery, abuse of power and coercion. (S Korea-Park-Sentence)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Friday that the parliament will be dissolved on Saturday, paving way for the next general election to be held within 60 days in which he is seeking another mandate after holding the position for nine years.

In a televised speech delivered after a special cabinet meeting, Najib said he already acquired the consent of King Sultan Muhammad V to dissolve the parliament. (Malaysia-Election-Najib)

NEW DELHI -- At least nine people were killed and several others injured Friday after a tractor carrying farm workers in its trolley skidded off the road and fell into a canal in southern Indian state of Telangana, police said.

The tractor fell into Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project canal near Waddipatla village of Nalgonda district, 128 km southeast of Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana. (India-Tractor) Enditem
