Singapore stocks close 1.08 pct higher

SINGAPORE, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.08 percent, or 36.85 points, to close at 3,442.50.

A total of 2.19 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.39 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.06 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 225 to 197.

The STI index closed up 1.97 percent, or 65.95 points, to close at 3,405.65 Thursday. Enditem
