Tokyo stocks gain slightly in morning, trade frictions weigh

TOKYO, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks made narrow gains Friday morning after U.S. President Donald Trump compounded market nerves about international trade frictions.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged 27.52 points, or 0.13 percent, higher from Thursday to 21,672.94.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 2.39 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1,727.00.

Mining and retail issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
