Chicago agricultural commodities settle higher

CHICAGO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities closed higher on Thursday, with corn, wheat and soybean futures all rising over one percent, as trade tension eased and cold temperatures stressed crops in the U.S. Plains.

The most active corn contract for May delivery rose 8.5 cents, or 2.23 percent at 3.895 dollars per bushel. May wheat delivery went up 9 cents, or 1.97 percent to close at 4.6475 dollars per bushel. May soybeans added 16 cents, or 1.58 percent to settle at 10.3125 dollars per bushel.

Freezing weather moved east into parts of several U.S. states Thursday morning, potentially threatening soft red winter wheat in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The weekly export sales report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday showed soybean sales beat expectations, while wheat and corn sales missed the expectations. Enditem
