DAMASCUS -- An inner rift among the Islam Army rebels in the Syrian capital Damascus' Eastern Ghouta countryside has delayed their planned evacuation on Thursday, state news agency SANA reported.

Buses, which entered the Douma district earlier to transport the fourth batch of the Islam Army rebels and their families, had to leave the area empty to "stay away from the conflict among the Islam Army rebels," the report said. (Syria-Douma-Evacuation Delay)

ISTANBUL -- A researcher on Thursday shot dead four colleagues and wounded three others at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University in northwestern Turkey, Turkish media reported.

Ozdemir Cakacak, governor of Eskisehir, told reporters on the scene that the assailant, identified as Volkan Bayar, shot and killed a deputy dean, the faculty secretary and two other colleagues. (Turkey-Campus Shooting)

ADEN, Yemen -- A total of 16 Shiite Houthi militants were killed in government artillery shelling near Yemen's southern province of Lahj on Thursday, a military source told Xinhua.

The army artillery unit launched 11 missile strikes on Houthi-controlled sites in areas between the provinces of Lahj and Taiz, destroying armored vehicles belonging to the rebels, the military official said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Shelling-Houthis) Enditem
