Five-time darts world champion Bristow dies aged 60

LONDON, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Five-time darts world champion Eric Bristow died on Thursday evening at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack.
The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) announced on its website, "The Professional Darts Corporation is deeply saddened to announce that five-time World Champion Eric Bristow MBE passed away on Thursday evening following a heart attack."
Bristow was at the Echo Arena in Liverpool for the latest night of action in the Premier League when the incident happened.
PDC Chairman Barry Hearn led the tributes to Bristow, saying that "Eric will always be a legend in the world of darts and British sport."
"He was a tremendous player and a huge character and even after his retirement fans would travel for miles to meet him and see him play," Hearn said.
The PDC is a professional darts organisation in the United Kingdom, established in 1992 when a group of leading players split from the British Darts Organisation to form what was initially called the World Darts Council.
Bristow was one of the founder players when the PDC was formed back in 1993 as the some of the leading stars in the sport broke away from the British Darts Organisation.
Bristow was born in April 1957 in Hackney Cetral, London. Enditem
