British stocks soar 2.35 pct Thursday

LONDON, April 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks jumped on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 165.49 points, or 2.35 percent, to close at 7,199.50 points.

Micro Focus International, the British software and information technology business, soared 8.86 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Evraz and Johnson Matthey rose by 5.46 percent and 4.34 percent, respectively.

Direct Line Insurance Group, a British insurance company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 9.96 percent.

Aviva, a leading Insurance group, dropped 2.93 percent. Randgold Resources, a major multinational metal company, dropped 2.49 percent. Enditem
