Kenyan bourse stocks rally lifting key indices

NAIROBI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Three key indices of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) rose on Thursday boosted by a rally in shares across the board.
The NSE 20 Share Index went up by 15.65 points to close at 3,836.49, reversing a negative trend since the start of the week.
The blue chip index was lifted by Safaricom that went up 2.3 percent, Kenya Airways (9 percent), Athi River Mining (4 percent) and Standard Chartered (2 percent), among others.
The NSE All share Index (NASI), similarly, was up by 2.67 points to close at 196.57 points while the NSE 25 index rose by 39.44 points to close at a new high of 5,017.
Market turnover, however, decreased by 37 percent to 6.87 million U.S. dollars, driven by the 14-percent drop in shares traded to 22 million, from 26 million shares traded previously worth 10 million dollars.
Bond turnover increased by 205 percent to stand at 40 million dollars pushed up by foreign investors, compared to 13 million dollars traded in previous session. Enditem
