People pay tribute to legendary emperor Huangdi

XI'AN, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Around 10,000 people attended a ceremony in Huangling County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on Thursday to pay homage to Huangdi, also known as the Yellow Emperor.

The ceremony has been a tradition on Tomb-sweeping Day, which falls on April 5 this year. Chinese mourn their deceased family members on the holiday.

Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Liu Qibao, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairperson of the Kuomintang (KMT) party from Taiwan, Hu Heping, Communist Party Secretary of Shaanxi Province, Liu Jieyi, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming from Taiwan participated in the event.

The legendary emperor is considered the founder of the Chinese civilization and the ancestor of all Chinese. Enditem
