Singaporean stocks close 1.97 pct higher

SINGAPORE, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend up 1.97 percent or 65.95 points to close at 3405.65.

A total of 1.06 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.19 billion Singapore dollars (about 904.96 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 330 to 105.

The STI index closed down 2.12 percent or 72.45 points to close at 3339.70 Wednesday. Enditem
