Tokyo stocks rise in morning on Wall Street's lead, hopes for trade negotiations

TOKYO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained ground Thursday morning on Wall Street's overnight lead and on hopes negotiations will settle international trade frictions.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 348.28 points, or 1.63 percent, from Wednesday to 21,667.83.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 19.29 points, or 1.13 percent, at 1,725.42.

Precision instrument, pharmaceutical and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
