BRUSSELS -- The European Union does not support measures that would run counter to WTO law, Daniel Rosario, spokesman of the European Commission, told reporters Wednesday on Washington's proposed list of Chinese goods subject to additional 25 percent tariffs based on the investigation of the so-called Section 301.

"We call on the relevant parties to ensure WTO compliance of their trade actions," said Rosario, responding to Xinhua's question about the list. (EU-WTO-China-Trade)

MOSCOW -- At least one person was killed and two others injured in a fire that broke out in a shopping mall in the eastern part of Russia's capital, the country's Investigative Committee said Wednesday.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said in a statement that the fire affecting an area of 80 square meters in the four-storey Perseus for Children mall was put out in about an hour after it broke out. (Russia-Mall-Fire)

WASHINGTON -- Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg will testify before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee on April 11, the panel announced Wednesday.

Facebook has come under scrutiny after the revelation that data firm Cambridge Analytica, which was hired by the Trump campaign, was able to gain access to the information of about 50 million Facebook users without their knowledge. (US-Facebook-Zuckerberg)

MOSCOW -- Russian Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday that it would expel a Hungarian Embassy employee in a tit-for-tat over the poisoning of former Russian agent Sergei Skripal.

Earlier in the day, Hungarian Ambassador to Russia Janos Balla was summoned to the foreign ministry, where he received a note of protest against Hungary's expulsion of a Russian diplomat on March 26 based on Britain's "unproven allegations" against Russia, the ministry said in a press release.
