BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Rimbink Pato, foreign minister of Papua New Guinea, will visit China from April 10 to 15 at the invitation of State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang announced Wednesday.

Wang and Pato will hold talks during the latter's stay in China, and the two sides will exchange views on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of common concern, according to Geng.

Geng said the two countries have seen rapid development of their relationship over the past 42 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Geng said Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held in Papua New Guinea in November, which will provide important opportunities for the development of bilateral ties.

China stands ready to work with Papua New Guinea to continue the momentum of interactions at all levels and enhance cooperation in various fields, Geng said.

He said that China will enhance communication and coordination on international and regional affairs with Papua New Guinea and promote greater development of bilateral strategic partnership. Enditem
