HARARE, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zimbabwe's major media outlets on Tuesday.
-- Visiting Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa will meet his Chinese counterpart President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday to discuss political and economic developments as the two leaders consolidate ties between their countries.
Mnangagwa is on a five-day state visit to the Asian country on the invitation of Xi and the trip is his first state visit outside Africa since taking office last November. (The Herald)
-- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has turned down demands by opposition political parties and civil society groups to hire external chartered accountants to audit the voters' roll ahead of this year's elections.
ZEC chairperson Priscilla Chigumba said according to the law, such an act was not allowed and anyone who wishes to audit the voters' roll was free to do so at their own cost provided they are a registered election participant. (NewsDay) Enditem
