LUSAKA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.
-- The Zambian government said it would go ahead with enacting land reforms even though the process might upset some key stakeholders because it wants to empower women and youths.
Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya said the government has no choice but to enact land reforms as a way to make it easier for the vulnerable group in society to access land. (Times of Zambia)
-- The Zambian government says it will soon embark on a program of restocking tourism facilities in the country with animals to promote domestic tourism.
Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda said the restocking of tourism facilities with animals will go a long way in improving the growth of the tourism industry. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- Zambia's human rights' body has welcomed the government's decision to facilitate the amendment of a law that governs public gatherings and processions after complaints from stakeholders.
The Human Rights Commission said the amendment of the Public Order was long overdue as it was one of the outstanding pieces of laws that had been used more to violate civil and political rights and freedoms of citizens. (Daily Nation)
--Zambia's leading opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has rubbished claims that his party has bribed some lawmakers to support an impeachment motion filed by his lawmakers to remove President Edgar Lungu for alleged breach of constitutional provisions.
The opposition leader said his party does not need to bribe members of parliament for them to support the impeachment motion because the lawmakers have seen for themselves the breaches of the constitution under the Zambian leader's charge. (The Mast) Enditem
