5 killed, 19 injured in car crash in western Myanmar

YANGON, April 3 (Xinhua) -- At least five people have been killed with 19 others injured in a car crash in Gwa township, Myanmar's Rakhine state, the Home Affairs Ministry said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Gwa-Ngathaingchaung road on Monday night.

A 12-wheeled car carrying a traditional cultural troupe named Aung San Pwint fell into a ravine at a depth of 457 meters, killing a female performer, a vocalist and three other staff at 7:30 p.m. local time.

The injured were brought to nearby hospitals for treatment.
