2 dead, 3 injured in head-on collision in northern Finland

HELSINKI, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and at least three others were injured when two passenger cars collided head-on on Monday in Ranua, northern Finland, local media reported.

​ Ari Saarenpaa, senior firefighter, told Finnish newspaper Iltalehti that the dead were two elderly people who were in the same car. Three others were injured seriously and were transported to hospital by helicopter.

​According to the fireman, the weather condition was good and the surface of the road was dry at the time of the crash in the north, while snowstorm hit the southern coast of Finland on Monday.

​At the moment, the age and gender of the injured were not identified. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Enditem​
