CAIRO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Presidential Committee announced on Monday that incumbent President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi won 97.08 percent of the valid votes in the 2018 presidential election.

A total of 21,835,387 voted for Sisi at home and abroad, head of Egypt's National Elections Authority (NEA), Lashin Ibrahim, told a press conference in Cairo.

Sisi's rival, little-known politician Moussa Mostafa Moussa, garnered 656,534 votes, or 2.92 percent of valid votes, he added.

Ibrahim noted that the number of invalid votes was 1,762,231.

A total of 24,254,152 voters inside and outside Egypt, representing 41.05 percent of eligible voters, cast their ballots, he added. Enditem
