Avalanche in French Alps kills one, injures three: report

PARIS, April 2 (Xinhua) -- At least one hiker died Monday in an avalanche in Chamonix in the Massif of Aiguilles Rouges (Red Needles), southeastern France, franceinfo radio reported.

A group of hikers was struck by an avalanche earlier this morning on a skitouring trail in a hallway of the Alphonse Favre Point. A high mountain guide from the Chamonix Valley was killed and three others were injured, the report said.

Rescue operation was underway as one person was reported missing, it added. Enditem
