BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.18 percent, at 3,163.18 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.14 percent lower at 10,852.95 points.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Monday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 1.69 points, or 0.07 percent, to settle at 2,444.16. Trading volume stood at 386.6 million shares worth 6.6 trillion won (6.3 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower on Monday as investors opted to secure profits after shares' early advance on a weaker yen and the Bank of Japan's upbeat outlook for fiscal 2018 business investment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 65.72 points, or 0.31 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,388.58.
