Singapore stocks close 0.08 pct higher

SINGAPORE, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.08 percent or 2.79 points to close at 3,430.76.

A total of 824.5 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 711.4 million Singapore dollars (about 543.1 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 226 to 185.

The STI index closed up 1.34 percent or 45.19 points to close at 3,427.97 last Thursday.
