CAPE TOWN, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South Africa's major news outlets on Monday:

-- British TV personality and model Katie Price was robbed last week while travelling from Johannesburg to Swaziland.

Katie had her two children, Princess (10) and Junior (12), with her in the car when the incident took place. (Channel24)

-- The highway between KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces has been closed due to protest.

The route is one of the busiest during the Easter long weekend as thousands of motorists make their way home from the coast. (Eyewitness News)

-- The Congress of South African Trade Unions said on Sunday the VAT hike spells disaster for workers, who will now struggle to clothe and feed their families and send their children to school.
