TOKYO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Monday morning as the yen's softer tone lifted exporter issues, while the Bank of Japan's Tankan survey showing a solid fiscal 2018 outlook for business investment also added support.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 107.71 points, or 0.50 percent, from Friday to 21,562.01.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.09 points, or 0.30 percent, at 1,721.39.

Electric power and gas, insurance and chemical-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
