SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan -- Two foreign militants of the Islamic State (IS) group have been killed after Afghan warplanes targeted the hardliner group's hideout in northern Jawzjan province, deputy to provincial police chief Abdul Hafiz Khashi said Sunday.
"Acting upon intelligence report, the warplanes struck IS hideout in Darzab district on Saturday afternoon, killing two foreign rebels of the outfit," Khashi told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Militants)

JAKARTA -- The search and rescue operation for three missing people continued on Sunday amid efforts to clean up leaked oil after an oil tanker caught fire in waters off central Indonesia, an official said.
Personnel from navy, water police, search and rescue office, and disaster management agency combed the waters off Balikpapan Gulf, said Muriyono, head of the operational unit at the provincial disaster management agency. (Indonesia-Oil Tanker)

VIENTIANE -- The construction of cross-border Friendship Tunnel on China-Laos railway is proceeding smoothly, the Chinese company in charge of the project said on Sunday.
"We have made a 300-meter entrance into the cross-border mountains, and will have half of the job done in the Lao side at the end of this year," Wang Xiaodong, Chinese communist party secretary of the construction unit boring the Friendship Tunnel from the Lao side, told Xinhua in northern Lao border town Boten, some 400 km north of lao capital Vientiane.
