ADDIS ABABA, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Sunday.

--Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen has pledged to provide unreserved support for the newly elected Chairperson of the Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), the ruling party in Ethiopia.

Demeke, who is also Deputy Chairperson of EPRDF and Chairperson of Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM), made the remark while briefing local journalists on current situations on Saturday. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

--The State of Emergency Inquiry Board has made public the names of individuals detained and the reasons for their arrest.

In a press conference he gave here Saturday, Inquiry Board Chairman Tadesse Hordofa said 1,107 individuals, of whom 20 are female, have so far been detained in six zones established in connection with the state of emergency. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)
