SARAJEVO, March 31 (Xinhua)-- Several flights to the Sarajevo International Airport (SIA) have been cancelled due to strong wind that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) capital Sarajevo on Saturday, the official SIA website said Saturday.

A strong wind prevented the landing of airplanes on SIA, some flights were cancelled, and others returned to the destinations from which they flew.

According to the SIA official website, all departure flights from SIA are cancelled as well.

BiH Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ) issued an orange alert for the whole territory of the country on Saturday due to strong winds blowing at 60 to 80 km per hour.

The area around the BiH's capital Sarajevo is currently hit by strong wind, FHMZ says, expecting thunderstorms and rainfall ranging between 20 and 40 liters per square meter.

The BiH Mountain Rescue Service has appealed to all citizens to refrain from going to the mountains or any form of outdoor activities as well as unnecessary exits from enclosed spaces. The orange alert will remain active till April 2. Enditem
